About Us
Born Earl Best on December 26, 1947, in Newark Beth Israel Hospital in the midst of a great snow storm. He is affectionately called the Street Doctor. He is known for his leadership, compassion, wit, and organizational abilities.
Spending 10 years in solitary confinement, reading one book a day prepared me for this mission. I counted 1759 Rice Krispies in a box just to keep my sanity; I learned to make every minute productive (86,400 seconds in a day). I promised God that if he let me out of prison, I would never look back regardless of what takes place in my life. Like the Apostle Paul, who was once a chief sinner and blasphemer of Jesus Christ, yet became one of his greatest convert, because he refused to be chained and shackled by his sins.
I am not perfect nor am I without blemish, I don't claim to be; having been to jail is not a badge of honor, but it is something I am not ashamed of. It was where most of the preparation for my mission took place 17 years. I studied and taught basic education to fellow inmates, Boxed and developed a boxing team, served as a social aid worker, a jail house lawyer helping other inmates get released; teaching and inspiring many inmates on learning how to read. I myself have written many essays, poems, thoughts and other writing materials, enough to fill up a room.
Many great minds have come out prison like Nelson Mandela, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Detroit Red, known to us a Malcolm X. Parts of the Bible were written from inside a prison wall, out of adversity.
Psalms by Prophet David, which we live by up until this very day, was written out of adversity, he himself having committed great sins was forgiven. Hereby but the grace of God do I stand before you, and preach the Gospel. I am living my dream of the gospel. I have worked tirelessly for more than 10 years, getting very little rest. My only desire is for God to say a job well done before I leave this Earth. Life is our gift to us from God, and what we become is our gift back to God.
